Tiger for Tunisia

I have not had chance to do much painting recently, but I did manage to finish off one project which has been sitting on my painting table for over a year now! That’s a Tiger tank for my DAK WW2 German army. The paint effect is really specific for this being a Tunisia or Sicily deployed Tiger tank. After those campaigns the single colour paint scheme was not used by the Germans. The domination of the air by the Allied forces plus changes in orders/thinking around tank camo’s mean that a mixed colour paint effect is needed for later tanks. So, this makes the model a ‘Mid war’ vehicle but one which is very powerful on the table. I likely can use it for later games in Italy though. A purist would likely complain, but let them. The painting is fairly basic with a dark yellow base coat and then two levels of lighter yellow highlights over black undercoat. Then a several black and brown washes to build up some character, with finally the details being picked out afterwards. Overall it’s come out alright but I’m still not 100% happy with the tracks. I guess more practice is needed. I have not put any decals on this tank – partly because of forgetting and from fact that I found some pictures with the tanks not having them (or having very small ones on the side of the hull only), and partly because it really did not need them to be a stand out model on the table. So there we go, one model off the to do pile at least.
