Blood Bowl – Dirty Snow bases

I was playing a game with the Argonorcs last week (a close loss to Orcs) and yes that was 2 games in a week! During the game suddenly I had a thought – dirty snow. As mentioned when showed these initially I was not happy with the basing of snow effect on models. It was just too white with a few grass tufts and flock. There was texture in the snow but it did not really show up. What it needed was something more. So this weekend I modified the snow bases to be ‘dirty’. Now they are not the fresh snow on the playing field, but more of the melted and kicked up snow. We see a lot of that here so the inspiration was really out the window. Anyway, I like this effect much more. So here we are with a quick post to show the results.

The effect is just with some a sprinkling of earth wash and brown ink. It was tough to not get it on the models but it was ok. Not too much, but just enough to make the bases dirty looking. I added some red blood drops to a couple – after all this is blood bowl. I like this much more than the virgin snow look and it has more character and I think finish’s the team. So, overall I’m much happier with the result and I will use the again for bases.

  1. That definitely looks the part! 🙂 Nicely done Mark! After your last game report I’d be surprised if there was no blood on the bases!
